Hello,
I have created a few variables in the System->Variable section. All variables are correctly populated with Registry Key values except the one for Apache Tomcat. Here is what I have as my defined variable:
Variable Name: <TomcatInstallPath>
Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat\7.0\Tomcat7 (copied/pasted from RegEdit)
Value Name: InstallPath
Value Type: STRING
This variable always contains an empty value. Why does this variable doesn't behave like the other one? Is there a maximum number of variables that can be defined? (I currently have 4).
Also, if I want to compare a version number for a software value taken from registry with a version I expect, is there a way to convert the string to int or float so that proper comparison can occur?
Thank you!

Hello,
Here is the information you requested for my issue. The company I work for is looking to purchase Actual Installer. I'm currently recreating an installer for some of our software to compare it with our existing installer software.

Re: Installer Can't Read Tomcat7 Registry Keys
Hi -
I've used several installers in the past, but think AI is the best being simple yet powerful.
One thing I do miss however is the ability to look at the list of files to be installed in a classic Windows treeview.
My main project has about 10 files in the <InstallDir> plus a subfolder Examples which in turn contains examples for use in 6 different scenarios. In total there's about 30 files.
In other installers I can look at this as a treeview and don't have to open the Examples folder unless I need to. In AI I always get a long list of the 30 files on the Additional Files tab which is much less clear.
My proposal is that you provide a pair of radio buttons to show the Additional Files as either a list view as at present, or a treeview in Windows file browser style.
Does anybody else agree?
