Actual Installer compatibility

Post by Jeff Fuquay »

I am using Actual Installer 4.8.

Is Actual Installer 4.8 designed to install software on a computer running under Windows 95 or 98?

If not, that explains my problem.

If so, I am receiving an error during the installation process.

Things install just fine when installing software onto a Windows XP, Vista, or 7 computer using the installation CD I have burned.

However, when I try to install software onto a Windows 95 or 98 computer, I get the following message:

"Error creating directory."
"Access is denied."
"Installation cannot continue."
"Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."

What could cause this error?

Is there any way to fix it?

The response I received after submitting a message using the online form on your site was not of much help. It simply suggested changing the destination folder (which did not help) and "launching setup as administrator".

Just what does "launching setup as administrator" mean, and how do I perform this under Windows 95 and 98?

Or is there another solution?

Any and all help would be appreciated.
